So no, unless you’re a black man, the academy and the rest of the entire fucking world doesn’t give a fuck if you beat or rape a woman or girl. And this is really fucking rich coming from a guy who raped Anna Faris on screen for a joke. But he’s white so it’s ok. And hilarious.

Okay. I am sick of being politically correct on this subject and I know I’m going to lose some followers over this, but it needs to be said because this argument is fucking ridiculous.

First off, Seth Rogen has a very valid point here about Chris Brown and the Grammys. It’s fucking ridiculous that the people in charge of the Grammys viewed his case as something that hurt them more than it did Rihanna. That’s what Rogen is addressing here and it can’t be misconstrued any other way.

Secondly, Rogen’s character in Observe and Report is a moron and has a poor conscience and you cannot blame Rogen for his job as an actor on portraying that. Are you going to give Rooney Mara shit for raping another man and being nominated for an Academy Award? No. Because it was her job as a performer to do the task that she was given. And I hope to God, even though I don’t necessarily believe in one, that both Rogen and Mara know the difference between a character’s actions and their own.

As should you.

Thirdly, Polanski is not allowed to be in the United States because of what he did. That’s why he hasn’t been to the Oscars in quite some time. Call him a coward if you will, but keep in mind that he is a refugee in another country. So yeah - he isn’t really allowed at the Oscars. In regards to Penn and Wahlberg and Brolin? I really don’t know their cases very well, but I can only imagine that they have been met with some reproach for their actions.

Race is not an issue here. Just because they’re white and Chris Brown is black, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s anything more than a coincidence. Keep in mind that Elia Kazan, a white male, was banned from the Oscars and blacklisted in Hollywood for trying to save his own ass.

So yeah. I have feelings. You might, too. And that’s fine. In fact, we might even disagree on this. But the point of the matter is is that we pay too much attention on the lives of other people that we don’t even know and then we chastise some others for commenting on the events of those peoples’ lives.

Don’t be mad at Seth Rogen for saying something clever. And don’t pass off your criticism as something that has to do with racism or prejudice because you disagree with it.
